New Hutch

I wanted a new hutch to display my mother's, grandmother's, and mother-in-laws dishes that have been passed down to me, but you know it couldn't just be any hutch. I had something in mind, and that something was out of my price range. The first picture is the inspiration pic. You can see that it has the old distressed look, some white washing, and then look at the color choices there are for it! Beautiful! I was inspired!

Next, I had to find my "new" hutch, so FB marketplace it is! I scored this lovely, orange stained 1990's vintage piece for $75. Yep. Cheap is the name of the game. I took it home, and got started working on it to make it look like the upscale hutch I envisioned. A lot of sanding, stripping, and even bleaching had to take place first along with filling in some chipped corners and adding some bun feet to it to get it off the ground.

Finally, on to the finishing touches, which is the really fun part of any project. I am a big fan of Fusion mineral paint, so that is what I used in the color Homestead Blue along with their liming wax which is what gives it the white wash look. I decided to leave off the doors on the bottom and use some cute wire baskets instead. I finished it off with the hardware to give it a little more vintage flair. What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts on this project!
